Mary Munro, Canada
Ms. Munro resides in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. She is a Fellow and Examiner of the BATD and is also on the RSOBHD Adjudicators Panel. Her teachers were the late Dorothy Christie and Heather Jolley, to whom she is grateful for sharing their knowledge, especially during her competitive years. Highlights of Ms. Munro’s competitive career include winning the Adult Canadian Championship and finishing 1st Runner Up in the Adult World Championship. As a judge and teacher, she has had the opportunity to travel to Australia, New Zealand, Scotland, and extensively throughout North America. Her former students have won many open and closed championships. Besides teaching full day kindergarten in North Vancouver, Ms. Munro also runs a dance program at school which she finds very rewarding, as it is an opportunity to give back to the community. Ms. Munro served as Treasurer of ScotDance Canada for 11 years, and ScotDance BC for 11 years.
Rebecca McKinnon, Canada
Ms. McKinnon resides in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. She began dancing at the age of 4 and enjoyed a successful competitive dancing career for over 20 years. She is a member of the RSOBHD Adjudicator’s Panel and is also a Fellow of the SDTA. From 2003-2013, Ms. McKinnon was the Representative for Alberta on the Scotdance Canada Executive Board. She is currently the Alberta provincial exam organizer for the SDTA, and in 2022, and an SDTA Examiner. Ms. McKinnon is excited to be co-chairing the SDCCS 2027 in Edmonton, Alberta at the West Edmonton Mall. She owns the McKinnon School of Dance in Edmonton and has taught students who have won or been runner-up at numerous championships around the World, including the Canadian Championship, the North American, the Scottish Open, the British Open and the Commonwealth Championships. One of her students was the winner of the Junior World Champion title in 2011. Outside of the dancing world, Ms. McKinnon is an elementary teacher with Edmonton Public Schools. She and her husband are proud parents to their daughter, McKenzie.
Gaelyn McGregor, Canada
Ms. McGregor resides in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and is an Examiner, Fellow and Life Member of the SDTA and an adjudicator with the RSOBHD. She is currently the tour organizer for the SDTA in Manitoba and served as the Technical Advisor Chair of ScotDance Canada for many years. She travels internationally examining, adjudicating and instructing workshops. Over the years, her students have been successful in winning Provincial, Mid-Canada, Northern Canadian, Eastern Canadian, North American, Scottish, Commonwealth and Canadian Championships. As a dancer, she won many consecutive Provincial and Mid-Canada Championships and the Northern Canadian Championship, and highlights include winning 1st Runner Up in the Intercontinental Championship (pre-Canadian Championship), British Overseas Champion, 4th Runner Up Adult World Champion and Best Overseas Dancer at the Royal Braemar Gathering. Ms. McGregor has been the principal teacher since 1977 of the McGregor Studio of Dance in Winnipeg. She was the first recipient of the Lord Strathcona Award sponsored by the St. Andrew’s Society of Winnipeg for her tireless contributions to keeping Scottish heritage and culture alive in Manitoba.
Audrey Watt, Scotland
Ms. Watt resides in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. She is the principal teacher at the Hendry Watt Dance School in Aberdeenshire and feels very fortunate to run a happy, successful dance school. Taught by Betty Jessiman, Ms. Watt has had numerous opportunities to perform at His Majesty's Theatre in various shows. She was a familiar face on the competitive games circuit. A Fellow Member of the UKA, SDTA and BATD, Ms. Watt joined the RSOBHD Adjudicators Panel in 2011. Ms. Watt enjoys helping dancers be the best they can be, and building their confidence and experience travelling the world, competing and performing successfully at the highest level in Highland and Choreography. Building lifelong friendships and striving to do the best for the dancers, allowing them to accomplish great things, are the ultimate goals of Ms. Watt’s teaching
Christine Aitken, Scotland
Ms. Aitken resides in Paisley, Scotland. She is the former President of the BATD, a role she served from 2015-2017. She is a RSOBHD Adjudicator and Independent Member on the Technical Committee, and currently serves as the Convenor of the Judges Committee. Ms. Aitken is a BATD examiner and has served on several BATD committees in several dance disciplines. Ms. Aitken started dancing at the age of 3. Her first Highland teacher was Ms. Nancy Dickson, and Ms. Effie Drummond taught her Tap, Ballet, Modern, and Theater. Later, she took lessons in Highland from Mrs. Jessie Stewart Haggarty, MBE. Ms. Aitken competed regularly at many Highland competitions and Stage festivals. In 1957, she won the 10 years Scottish Championship at Cowal, and went on from there to enjoy a very successful competitive career. She has been a dance teacher for 60 years, at one time teaching all genres of dance, but presently teaching just Highland. In 2018, Ms. Aitken was the gracious recipient of the Atholl Clasp, awarded by the Atholl Dancing Association to people within the dancing community who have service their sport extremely well.
Elizabeth Gollan, Scotland
Elizabeth Gollan was trained by Frances Paterson in Edinburgh, Scotland in Highland,
Ballet and Tap. She is a Life Member of the BATD, and a Fellow of UKAdance.
Previously a teacher and director of Paterson School of Dancing for over 30 years she
now teaches dancers of all levels at her own school.
Elizabeth has trained dancers who have won championship titles in the United Kingdom
and Northern Ireland, France, Canada, South Africa and the United States, as well as the
RSOBHD UK Champion of Champions.
Having spent 27 years working in the Finance Sector, Elizabeth changed job direction in
2016 and is now Director of Administration of the RSOBHD.
Elizabeth is honoured to have been asked to adjudicate at the FUSTA/SDUSA United
States Inter-Regional Championship and supporting events in Boston, MA. Good luck to
all dancers – remember to have fun and make new memories.
Brian Green, USA
Mr. Green resides in Gurnee, Illinois, United States. He has been piping for over 40 years, 30 years of which have been spent actively piping for Highland dancing competitions. Mr. Green began learning the pipes at the age of 9 after watching a performance of a Highland piper, Scottish snare drummer and Highland dancer at his elementary school in upstate New York, receiving his early instruction from Dr. Harold Kirkpatrick. He received valuable feedback on dance piping from Jeannie Jardine Brauns (founder of the Braemar Highland Dancers) and pipers Jimmy Fee and John Recknagel. Mr. Green also competes with pipe bands, having participated in bands at all levels. He is currently a member of The 78th Fraser Highlanders Pipe Band, a Grade 1 pipe band from Milton, Ontario. He and his wife Pam (a former highland dancer and current Scottish snare drummer), have two daughters, Courtney (tenor drummer) and Fiona. Mr. Green has piped at five previous USIRs: 2015 Atlanta; 2016 Grand Rapids; 2018 Gettysburg; and 2022 Madison and at the 2021 Citrus Classic, Fort Lauderdale.
Daniel Carr, Canada
Mr. Carr resides in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. He began dancing at the age of 3 with the Sheila Milne School of Dance in Owen Sound, Ontario. He received world class training in Highland dance from Mrs. Milne as well as Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Tap and Theatre from top instructors that came from all over the world. Some highlights of his Highland dance career include winning major championships throughout Canada, the US and Scotland, including the Ontario, Canadian and World Championships. Mr. Carr teaches Highland dance in Collingwood and teaches at workshops and camps further afield. Aside from dancing, Mr. Carr plays bagpipes and teaches local students in Collingwood. In 2023, he was awarded the Canadian gold medal for achievement in Piobaireachd at the Glengarry Gathering. Mr. Carr is also a member of the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance and Alpine Canada and has taught/coached skiing for 15+ years.
